“Go on, play by yourself” – we often ask our kids to entertain themselves while we work on other tasks. While learning to play independently is important, children also love playing with others, especially their parents. They crave time with their parents and since play comes naturally to them, it is a great opportunity to get to know your child better and teach new skills authentically.
When children play with their parents they learn to trust them, how to interact with others, and how healthy competition works.
So here’s a wacky game to play with your children – but first, gather around in a circle and take turns to answer this in one word “How am I feeling right now?”
Everyone in the circle takes turns to ask a question (examples below), and everyone answers it as quickly as they can (no thinking!) – as many rounds as you can possibly imagine!
Here are a few examples to get you started:
- Would you rather fly in the air or land on a planet?
- Would you rather have 3 feet or 3 hands?
- Would you rather live without music or without television?
- Would you rather be the sun or the moon
You get the idea – now go for it and enjoy!
