As parents we just want two things for our children – We want our children to be accepted and affirmed socially, but we also want them to feel free to be who they are. Unfortunately, sometimes, these two desires don’t actually match up. Sometimes, our kids are forced to navigate tough expectations from those around them. But we know that being different is a wonderful thing. So, here’s a wonderful activity to teach the benefits of being unique, and what would be a better place than to start with your own family.
This can be done in multiple creative ways – here’s one way:
- Create a family tree and write down all the different ways your family is unique.
- Highlight how these unique characteristics help. For example, “Our family always eats our night meal together.
